The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is one of the most popular universities in Nigeria, but unlike other Universities, this school is the first of its kind in Nigeria and all of West Africa. The National Open University of Nigeria was first established in the year, 1983 and later resuscitated in 2002 as a Federal Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution. Most Nigerians are not aware that NOUN is regarded as the largest institution with campuses spread across the country.
The National Open University of Nigeria (popularly referred to as NOUN), is the first of its kind in all of West Africa, and have the highest number of students. In 2011, the number of students in NOUN was about one hundred and fifty thousand (150,000).
This ODL institution has various study centers in Nigeria, and have a total of One hundred and four (104) study centers at various locations in Nigeria, including in prisons where inmates can study and earn a degree while serving their time.

Candidates applying for admission into the National Open University of Nigeria should know that this institution offers certain compulsory courses that every student of the institution must pass before he/she is allowed to graduate.

Candidates who are interested in getting admitted into the National Open University of Nigeria should know that admission is open for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. applicants.
Before seeking admission into NOUN, you must be Seventeen (17) years and above.
The biggest advantage NOUN has over other tertiary institutions in Nigeria, is its immunity to union strikes such as the ASSU and ASUP strike.
The university management has confirmed that NOUN graduates can now enroll and participate in the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC program.
National Open University of Nigeria Registration.
Before applying for admission into NOUN, you are expected to have at least a minimum of five (5) O’level credits, which must include Mathematics and English Language.
1. Go to https://www.nouonline.net, and click Apply for Admission which is located on the site’s menu bar.
2. When it loads up, choose the program you wish to apply for. The available program includes Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Ph.D.
3. On the left-hand side of the screen, you must select “Faculty“.
4. You are required to choose the faculty of your choice which you want to be admitted. To do this, click on the Faculty of your choice and fill the form displayed on the screen, choose the program and entry-level to enable the View Requirements.
5. Click on the View Requirements tab below to review the admission requirements as displayed on your screen.
6. After you have reviewed it, you can proceed by clicking on the “APPLY” button, where you will be taken to the pre-payment application page. Make sure you fill the remaining details before you submit them.
7. When you’ve successfully submitted the pre-payment form, you will be redirected to Remita platform where you are required to obtain an RRR invoice which is used to effect payment for the application form.
8. It is very important that you copy the “UNIQUE ID” displayed and then click on Continue.
9. On the next options provided, you are expected to select Bank Branch as payment type and click on “Pay“.
10. Take your RRR number and go to any of the bank branches to pay the stipulated amount.
11. After you have made a successful payment, re-visit the school’s website as explained in steps 1 and 2.
12. You can choose to pay online using your MasterCard, Visa, or internet banking. If you choose Online payment, the online form will be shown to you.
13. Proceed by clicking on the Continue After Payment button, enter the Unique ID, RRR number, and Programme, and click on the “Proceed” button.
14. Fill Form is provided on the screen and click on Submit.
15. Finally, simply printout your NOUN admission letter and take it to your preferred Study Centre for screening/verification by an Administrative/Admission Officer.
NOUN Student Login Portal.
The school senate disclosed that the NOUN Student Portal is available for returning students who are only required to log in and access their status (Dashboard).
However, for newly admitted students, before accessing the NOUN student portal, you must be a registered and approved student.
