Samsung Mobile is taking technology to a whole new level, by aiming at producing the first Mobile phone that is NOT only foldable, but can also be doubled as a tablet.
There are several speculation that this device would be welcomed to the general market, most especially for people who loved the idea of having a phone with a large screen, but would also love to fit the mobile phone in a pocket or small handbag.
Samsung foldable phone (samsung smartlet)
This information was disclosed earlier today, as it’s expected of Samsung to release this phone that folds in two like a book – or the Nintendo DS – and it is expected to be released go on sale next year, according to the latest rumours.
Although this information was first circulated on a Korean news site called ETNews, the product is known internally as a ‘smartlet’ and rumored to have a 7inch screen when unfolded, which becomes a 5inch device when folded.
It is believed that the product is currently been produced and is ongoing several beta tests, and Samsung may apparently start selling the ‘Samsung smartlet’ in 2017. The Samsung Smartlet was a secret project and Samsung has apparently spent three years developing the technology.
The project is known as the ‘Foldable Valley’, and the device is expected to take advantage of bendy plastic screens being developed by Samsung’s display division.
This information was made public, when the director of Samsung’s Display division Lee Chang-hoon said called for an Investor’s meeting in January, saying that the ‘Development of Foldable OLED is taking place according to our plan’
and we are also planning on mass-production and release this product by discussing with out partners.’
Although it was once disclosed that the Samsung Smartlet would be launch in 2016. While a very much trusted rumour blog, SamMobile made a huge reported in February, saying that the device is already being tested in China.
The source of the rumored information about the foldable device, who did claims to have in-depth knowledge of the device, said it is being developed under the codename tagged “Project Valley”.
Also be circulated is the fact that there are two versions of the phone which are being tested – one with a Snapdragon 620 processor and another with a Snapdragon 820.
Elsewhere, the device is rumoured to have 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot and a non-removable battery.
While commenting on this, Samsung reviewed that it doesn’t comment on rumour or speculation.
However, there is a huge discouragement here. A notebook style mobile phone (device) will need to bend at a very sharp angle and would need to withstand considerable wear and tear, and this fact leads to several commentators, who said that the rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt.
